Physical Challenge: Running Exercises

This week we are going to be focusing on running; from running mechanics, helpful exercises, and interesting research regarding this fantastic activity!

There are 5 exercises, each of which you'll complete for 30 seconds, with both legs. The exercises are as follows...


1) Single leg Step down

2) Single leg squat with hip abduction

3) Single leg step up with hip flexion

4) Single leg step up with arm swing

5) Single leg step up with arm swing and hip extension


The exercises above should take you 15 minutes if you don't take any breaks. In fitting with CDC recommendations, we want you to go for a 15 minute walk or run to fill the remaining 30 minutes of the activity guidelines. Happy running!


 

Nutritional Challenge : Power Greens


We know you've all probably heard the words "Super Food" by now. It's a term marketers and dietitians (among many others) use to describe a food that is high in nutrients and generally low in fats and sugars.


Leafy green vegetables are referred to as 'Super Foods' all the time, as they are LOADED with vitamins and minerals, and generally good sources of fiber and protein.


Your challenge is to research what leafy greens are, and give us at least 5 examples of leafy greens in the survey today. Looking for bonus points? You''ll get a bonus point for each time you can provide an example for how you can use these leafy greens in a meal.
